Receiving Your Clock

( 1 )

This is the way a clock should come off of
the truck. You will notice that the clock is
upright and the arrows are pointing up.

( 2 )

This is the wrong way to remove the clock.
First you will notice the the arrows are pointing
the wrong direction. If the clock was in the truck
with the arrows pointing down, that means that it
was shipped up side down, and could be damaged.
If the clock is removed in this manner, as the box
is tilted to lower it, the box can bend in middle and
that can damage the pendulum that is fastened to
side. The clock would be up side down, and
impossible to remove from the box.

( 3 )

First you open the box and remove the
pendulum box that is fastened to one of
the end flaps. Remove the box with the
pendulum, and then remove the pendulum
from the box only after the box has been
separated from the end flap.

( 4 )

Next remove the packing from around
the clock, and as you remove each piece
of packing, check to be sure that there
is not something in that box. Sometimes
instructions, finials, or keys and cranks
are shippen inside the packing material.

( 5 )

Now comes the fun part. You slide your
treasure out one end of the box. For this,
you want two people. As the clock is removed,
the box may want to fall over. The second
person can stabilize the box. Once you start
removing the clock, do not stop until the clock
is completely removed from the box. Most clock
companies no longer use staples, but watch for
anything sharp that could scratch your beautiful
new grandfather clock as it is removed.

( 6 )

Now you remove the plastic cover from
the clock, and you see your new beauty
for the first time. You will want to
check it over for any freight damage while
the delivery driver is still there. If you
find damage after you signed for the clock,
It is hard to convince the freight company
that they are responsible.
